Hi Qualifying Exam Students,
MEMS GSA is hosting a Qualifying Exam Support Group (QSG) after Friday Donut Hours in room 543 (10:15AM - 11:30AM).
The qualifying exam can be daunting, but these sessions are designed to ease the process. Each session will have two parts:
1. A senior student will present on a section of a research proposal—covering aspects like Goals and Outcomes or Research Approach—discussing what makes these sections effective, common pitfalls, and providing examples.
2. An open discussion where you can ask questions, discuss ideas, and network with both senior and fellow qualifying exam students.
Our first session is on Friday, February 5th, where we will cover an overview of proposals, exam rules, and the semester’s schedule (see attached for details).
From experience, starting early and working consistently on your proposal is key. These sessions are a great way to stay accountable and on track.
See you there,
